Richmond International Raceway is a 3/4 mile (1.2 km), D-shaped Oval, which is located just outside Richmond, Virginia. Originally built in 1953, the circuit has undergone three name changes, four layout changes and one surface change, from dirt to asphalt. One of the unique parts about this circuit is that all the races are held under floodlights, the only track to do this! The circuit is fast enough to have the feel of a venue which is larger, but small enough that racing is always guaranteed. It has proved extremely popular, selling out for 33 events in a row up until 2008. The circuit is set in a complex, which houses a range of different events and shows throughout the year.
