Talladega Speedway is one of the "super" speedway motorsport venues, located in Alabama. First built in the late 1960's, the circuit is on an old airfield and is one of the largest ovals in the USA at a length of 2.6 miles, and a seating capacity of well over 150,000. The circuit had an infield section up until 1983, however this gets used very rarely now. In 2006 the circuit was resurfaced for the fourth time. One of the more mysterious facets of the speedway is the supposed "jinx" on the circuit. Over the years various events have occurred, such as deaths from minor wrecks, as well as drivers claiming to have heard voices inside their cars, which have fuelled these beliefs.
