The Red Bull Ring circuit is located in Spielberg, Styria, Austria and was established as racing venue in 1969. Over the years the track has been known by a number of names (including the A1 ring and previously to that Österreichring) and has had several different layouts. The original track measured 5.9km however from 1996 to 2005 a 4.3km layout was used and now it operates as a 4.318km circuit. In order to bring the circuit back to the high standards required by Formula 1, the Austrian energy drink giant Red Bull has invested large sums of money for redevelopment, and has assisted in putting the circuit back on the prestigious Formula 1 calendar from 2014. Over the years the circuit has hosted rounds of the Formula 1 Championship along with many other international and national events.
