Pukekohe circuit is 40KM south of Auckland, on the northern island. The circuit opened in 1963 as a permanent venue, replacing an old circuit as the venue for the New Zealand Grand Prix. Todays circuit is shorter than the original, because the old part of the circuit was deemed to dangerous. From 2001 to 2007 one of the premier events in New Zealand, took place at the circuit, however the Aussie V8 race has now moved to Hamilton, for a street circuit. One of the problems the circuit has at the moment is that in the center is a horse racing course, meaning this dictates the events which can be held.
