The Misano World Circuit, (Formerly known as Circuito Internazionale Santamonica) is an Italian circuit located next to the town of Misano. Originally designed in 1969, work finished on the circuit in 1972. In 1993 the circuit was increased in length, from 3.4km to 4km. The next Moto GP event at the circuit nearly ended in tragedy, with Wayne Rainey having a big accident which ended his career due to a broken spine. From 1996 to 2003 various improvements in the circuit took place, with pit buildings being added as well as grandstands. In 2006 again the facilities had to be improved in order to hold the Moto GP, the main change being that the direction of the circuit changed from anti clockwise to clockwise, as well as another small section being added. A visit to the circuit is well worth whilst, and check out the kart track for a bit of extra fun!
