The Milwaukee Mile is a 1.032 mile (1.619 km) oval race track in West Allis, Wisconsin. Dating back to the late 1800′s (but officially opening in 1903) it is one of, if not the oldest race venue in the world. Originally it was a dirt oval, and in 1954, asphalt went down on the track and has stayed ever since. Today the track can seat over 40,000 fans, with a huge grandstand on the start/finish. One unique aspect of the circuit is the location, in the Wisconsin state fair. The track has held events sanctioned by major sanctioning bodies, such as the American Automobile Association, USAC, NASCAR, CART/Champ Car World Series, and the IndyCar Series. The circuit is still on the lookout for a new promoter, after challenging times in 2009.
