Losail International Circuit is a permanent circuit located just outside Doha Qatar. The track was built in 2003/4, at a cost of more than $58 million. The first event to be held at the circuit was the Moto GP, won by Ste Gibernau. Apart from Moto GP, other events include Rallies, WSBK as well as national events. The track is 5.3KM in length, with a main straight of just over a kilometre. Being in the middle of the desert, the organisers have put astro turf around the track to stop all of the grass coming onto the circuit. One other major feature of the track is the floodlights, which enable testing around the clock. It was also the location for the first ever Moto GP Night race which proved a huge success.
