Arctic Circle Raceway is the largest race track in Norway. The name of the track comes from the location, it is just under 30KM south of the Arctic cicrle, making it the most Northern circuit in the world. Opening in 1995 in an old stone quarry, it has been in use since. When being designed the specification was for a state of the art race track (at a cost of $10 Millio), which was achieved. One of the problems, is that because it is so far North it can get very cold in the winter, so a different compound of asphalt had to be developed. One other unique factor, is that 24 hour racing can take place, but always in daylight due to the location.
